Microchanneling is a non-invasive procedure designed to stimulate your body’s natural ability to generate collagen, elastin, and other building blocks of healthy skin. However, when it comes to Microchanneling, there are a ton of questions clients have but often find answers difficult to come by.

Therefore, Advance Laser Clinic wants to arm you with the most accurate information available to help you make informed decisions. To do this, we’ve answered some of the most frequently asked questions about micro-channeling.

1. Is Microchanneling and Microneedling the same?

The first difference is the device and technique used to perform the treatment. A microneedling device involves using a handheld roller covered in tiny needles dragged over the skin. This method can tear the skin.

Instead, the microchanneling device encompasses a linear stamping technique, resulting in clean, consistent microchannels. This reduces tissue damage and results in reduced inflammation and substantially decreased client discomfort. Keep in mind that reduced inflammation leads to less downtime. Typical downtime after a microchannel treatment is 60 to 90 minutes, compared to days of downtime with microneedling.

2. Does it hurt?

Not much! We use numbing cream, and most clients can do the procedure without noticeable pain. So there is no lingering discomfort, and we have several strategies to minimize pain during treatment and reduce redness after the treatment. After the procedure, most people report a “tight” feeling in their skin.

3. What is the serum used for this procedure?

A microchanneling brightening treatment is designed to enhance tone and optimize the skin’s ability to repair and rejuvenate itself via microchanneling delivery. A condition-specific, high-intensity 30 to 45 minute facial that uses lab-cultured Stem Growth Factors and Cytokines derived from bone marrow stem cells to replenish and recharge your skin’s energy while brightening the skin. It’s enhanced with two powerful peptides to achieve immediate and long-lasting results without downtime.

4. How long before I can expect to see results?

Though neo-collagenases (the production of new collagen) can take several weeks, you start noticing an improvement in the quality and appearance of your skin within the first 24 hours. After 2 to 3 treatments, a thicker, more robust, collagen-filled cellular matrix will produce more consistent and noticeable improvement. Six or more treatments may be recommended for scarring, laxity, and wrinkles.

5. Are there any contraindications?

If you have any underlying condition that significantly impairs your immune system, it’s a good idea to avoid microchanneling. Examples include but are not limited to active radiation or chemotherapy, uncontrolled diabetes, chronic inflammatory skin disease, Accutane in the past two years, hemophilia, or similar bleeding disorder. Also, anyone with stainless steel allergies should not do this treatment. In addition, we discourage treatments for those who are pregnant or nursing.
